The Learning Lab is a FREE weekly STEAM program for elementary age children.
Now in its 10th year, The Learning Lab meets weekly throughout the school year on Tuesdays. Engage your child’s curiosity with fun, hands-on learning activities. The Learning Lab program encourages critical thinking, problem-solving and collaboration through Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (traditional STEM concepts) while also fostering creativity and innovation through the Arts (the A in STEAM!).
A small sampling of past hands-on activities includes engineering and constructing a full-size, glow-in-the-dark mini-golf course; building a watershed; studying electronics through paper circuits and automaton; and filming a stop-action video. This year’s themes will include Bubbles, Bats and Caves, Robots, Music, and much, much more.
The program is open to students entering Kindergarten through 6th grade and meets on Tuesday evenings from 6:15 to 7:45 PM in the hall at First Baptist Church of South Plainfield. Middle and High School students are invited to serve as volunteers with the program.
